Several of our customers are manufacturers who focus on the sale of home appliances or production and information devices. Over the years, among them, there has been an increasing trend in shifting high-cost domestic production to overseas.
There have been several reasons why it was thought that domestic products should be procured domestically even at high cost.
Reasons for domestic procurement
|
|
- The person in charge of materials is situated domestically and is not used to dealing with overseas.
- Due to company regulations, the transactions occur only in domestic currency, for example, Yen.
- Due to tight deadlines, sudden corrections on the printed material cannot be taken care of overseas.
- No Japanese staff on hand for checking Japanese printed material.
- Components cannot be procured overseas, because they are produced domestically (in Japan).
- Due to import/export regulations, the customer's overseas plants cannot bring certain components into the country.

Does this mean that printed material such as manuals
can only be procured domestically?
